  Philosophers distinguish between actuality and possibility, between how things are and how they might have been. I have short hair but could have let it grow rather than go to the barber\'s. Since the actual world is one of the ways it might have been, since the actual world is itself a possible world, philosophers more strictly distinguish actuality from non-actual possibility. AJ
