Biogenesis

The theory of biogenesis, in the life sciences, is the opposite of abiogenesis. It states that all living organisms are descended from other living organisms. Thus life comes from pre-existing life and is continuous rather than being spontaneously generated from non-living material. The concept of biogenesis is one of the central laws of modern biology.
